December is finally here, which means a few things in our house.  Aside from the obvious, December invites Arthur, our Elf on the Shelf, back from the North Pole and the many Christmas shows onto our TV.  I have been terrible about finding out when the traditional shows of Frosty the Snowman, Ruldoph, and Charlie Brown's Christmas air on TV this year, so those have been purchased.  Thus, those traditional shows didn't kick off our December, but POLAR EXPRESS did instead.

And, last night, Arthur finally came to our house.  He wrote Jacob and Joseph a letter expressing his excitement for getting to stay in our house again this year.  That good elf brought the boys a gift to kick off the season also.  So, this morning, I busted in Jacob's room, woke him up abruptly and exclaimed, "Arthur is here...Arthur is here...he brought you a gift!"  I've never seen Jacob get out of bed so quickly! 

Once Jacob walked into the living room, he saw Arthur sitting tall against the TV with the note and the gift next to him.  I read the note to Jacob and let him open the gift:  An Elf Story DVD.  It's the story of the Elf on the Shelf, including what the Elves do when the kids are asleep!  They travel back to the North Pole every night to tell Santa what's been going on in that house. Upon their return, the Elves take up a new spot in the house...and sometimes do mischievous things too!  We'll just have see what our little Elf will be doing this season since he must stay off the floor, away from our Joseph.
