Joseph's Baptism

Saturday, November 19th, Joseph Russell Leier was baptized at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  Many family members graciously came to Baton Rouge to help us celebrate.  Joseph slept during the 4:30 mass, but was then was ready to eat during the baptism.  And since our son doesn't look like he skips too many meals, we had to ensure he got his dinner.  In addition to the prayers directed towards Joseph on his day, other prayers were probably silently being said out of thanksgiving...thankful for a quick, private ceremony since we also had toddlers in attendance.

Uncle Plane and Aunt Mary accepted the task of serving as Joseph's Godparents, so they proudly stood by our side.  Joseph didn’t like the water very much…Daddy wasn’t able to regulate the temperature like he does for Joseph’s baths!  Following our new family tradition, Deacon Don used the Blessed Cup that Greg and I used during our Wedding Mass that was then used for Jacob’s baptism. Who knows what other future ceremonies the cup will bear witness to?

Jesus said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them    (Mark 10: 14-16).

God bless Joseph!
