I'll Go Back Tomorrow

Day 2 of Pre-School was MUCH better than Dreadful Day 1. Bean got his sunflower made of apples, but requested the leaves (peanut butter) be placed higher on the steam this time. He ate this for  breakfast in front of the TV again and even got to play with his new cars his Daddy bought him yesterday!

He got dressed in his shirt that he had picked out the night before.   When I had asked him what he wanted to wear for his Second Day of Pre-School, he told me that he wanted to wear a nice shirt. I questioned him and he said, "Well, even you wear nice shirts some times!"  Thus, he wore his Royal Blue Lightning McQueen shirt! When it was time to put on his socks and shoes, he sat motionless for a minute.
 "Jacob, what's wrong?"
"Momma, where is my Daddy?"
"He's at work.  Why?"
"Well, who's going to help me with my socks and shoes if he's not here?"
"I suppose I can help you with that, if that's okay?"
"Why sure, but only because my daddy isn't here, okay, Mom?!"

We drove to school and had our usual talk about how much fun he is going to have and how Momma and Daddy are so proud of him.  "Why are you proud, Momma, what did I do?"  Unbelievable processing...he has to know how the watch was made before he can tell time.  Nothing, absolutely nothing is face value...everything has a price/reason/logic behind it and he has to understand it.

We arrived to the CarPool line...fifth to last!  (I must not be as eager to drop off as I am to pick up!)  I let him climb out of his seat and get in the front seat again to watch.  In front of us was Thomas, his friend from his previous school.  Both Thomas and Jacob were yelling at each other with their heads stuck out of the windows.  He would get so tickled...probably a combination of entertainment and  nervous energy!  Thus, when we finally got to the drop-off position, he and Thomas got out of the car simultaneously and continued their shenanigans into the building while holding their teachers' hands.

When I picked up Jacob today, in my third position in Car Pool Line, thank you very much, he climbed in the car, laid a kiss on me, gave me a super tight hug and said the words I've been longing to hear.  "Momma, I really like that place.  I'll go back again tomorrow!"  Once we got home, he got in his "floppy sloppy" tee-shirt, lay on the floor and proceeded to tell me all about his day!
Instead of asking, "What did you do today?" so I can get the answer of "Nothing," I asked a different question.  "Jacob, did you learn something new that you didn't know before today?"
"Yes!  Mrs. Carol told me about Y-E-L-L-O-W!"
"What is that?"
"Momma, silly, that's Yellow!"

  1. Sounds like Momma is starting to "accept" this situation! I knew that Jacob would accept this new stage in his life, his momma was a whole different thing!!! How does that song go---what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger!!! Baby girl, you can't believe just how strong you are going to become!!! Trust me on this. Loves---
